I think if there was to be any two words that truly summarize a teenager its those two words, "Naturally Curious" . In your teenage years, most of the times you're confused and definitely you're searching. This searching can range from anything as trivial as our taste in music to our "tribe" , that group of people we seamlessly click with , people who accept us for who we truly are ,quirks and all. We search for ourselves , we try and find our identity , and that , I believe is the most important thing we find ourselves being curious about. We try and find our purpose , our career and for some our "soul mate".
What I have found out, so far on my journey , is that nothing is ever really set in stone. I am 19 now and I cringe at the thought of some of the things that I considered to be a part of my identity at 13, I find that I've outgrown some of the things I thought made me ,ME!. I've lost friendships that I thought would last forever, truth be told the list is endless and you probably have had a different experience from me but we can both agree on the fact that most things are temporary. It's sad but unfortunately it's true.
Although a lot about me has changed in the 7 years that I've been a teenager, I have noticed that there is one constant in our lives and that is God. God has been good to me consistently through the years , he's carried me through tough periods when I questioned his existence , times I didn't want to go to church,times I felt like it was all too much,times when I didn't want to pray, times when I couldn't pray and through times when all I could muster was a Lord's prayer in the morning and a ' Lord watch over me as I sleep ' in the evening.I know you all have your testimonies ,feel free to share them in the comment section and let God's power be celebrated and his name glorified.
In conclusion, my message to you is, in a temporary world , let your identity be rooted in a permanent God, let your trust be placed in He who never fails. In a changing world , a world where even the weather is switching up , find yourself spending time and getting to know He who is the same yesterday ,today and forever (Hebrews 13 verse 8).
